Recognition of Heritage at the Special Cover Release Ceremony

To commemorate the educational and cultural legacy of the historic institution Chandernagore Kanailal Vidyamandir (French Section), a Special Cover release ceremony was held on Thursday, 9 January 2026. The programme formally began at the premises of the Chandernagore Head Post Office and was followed by a detailed ceremonial programme at Rabindra Bhavan, Chandernagore.

The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Mayor of Chandernagore Municipal Corporation, the Hon’ble Commissioner, the Mayor-in-Council Member (Education), senior officials of the Department of Posts, the President of IAA—an official partner of UNESCO—along with the Headmaster of the school, other teachers, students, and guardians. The ceremony was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

This Special Cover highlights the school’s long history, its French educational heritage, and the proud tradition of the CEPE (French) examination system that continues to this day. In their addresses, the speakers remarked that through the release of this Special Cover, not only an educational institution but the broader Indo-French educational history of Chandernagore has received recognition at the national level.

Officials of the Department of Posts noted that the Special Cover would be a valuable addition for philatelists and history enthusiasts. The school authorities expressed their gratitude to the Department of Posts and all concerned for this honour, and emphasised the importance of preserving this heritage for future generations.

At the conclusion of the programme, the Special Cover and commemorative cancellation were formally unveiled, and souvenir copies were presented to the distinguished guests. The entire event concluded in an atmosphere of warmth and pride.

This Special Cover release ceremony will remain a memorable chapter, bringing renewed attention to the educational heritage and rich legacy of Chandernagore.

চন্দননগরের ঐতিহ্যবাহী শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান চন্দননগর কানাইলাল বিদ্যামন্দির (ফরাসি বিভাগ) এর শিক্ষা ও সাংস্কৃতিক উত্তরাধিকারকে স্মরণীয় করে রাখতে ৯ জানুয়ারি ২০২৬, বৃহস্পতিবার, এক বিশেষ ডাক-খাম (Special Cover) প্রকাশনা অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানটি প্রথাগতভাবে চন্দননগর মুখ্য ডাকঘর প্রাঙ্গণে শুরুর পর বিস্তারিত অনুষ্ঠান হয় চন্দননগর রবীন্দ্র ভবনে।

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন চন্দননগর পৌরনিগম এর মাননীয় মহানাগরিক, মাননীয় কমিশনার, মেয়র পারিষদ সদস্য (শিক্ষা), ডাক বিভাগের ঊর্ধ্বতন আধিকারিকবৃন্দ, UNESCO এর official partner IAA এর সভাপতি, বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক এবং অন্যান্য শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিকা, শিক্ষার্থী এবং অভিভাবকরা। অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনায় প্রদীপ প্রজ্জ্বলনের মাধ্যমে আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করা হয়।

এই বিশেষ ডাক-খামটি বিদ্যালয়ের দীর্ঘ ইতিহাস, ফরাসি শিক্ষাধারার উত্তরাধিকার এবং আজও চলমান CEPE (French) পরীক্ষা ব্যবস্থার গৌরবময় ঐতিহ্যকে তুলে ধরেছে। বক্তারা তাঁদের বক্তব্যে বলেন, এই বিশেষ কভার প্রকাশনার মাধ্যমে শুধু একটি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান নয়, বরং চন্দননগরের Indo-French শিক্ষাগত ইতিহাস জাতীয় স্তরে স্বীকৃতি পেল।

ডাক বিভাগের আধিকারিকরা জানান, বিশেষ ডাক-খাম সংগ্রাহক ও ইতিহাসপ্রেমীদের কাছে এটি একটি মূল্যবান সংযোজন হবে। বিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ তাঁদের বক্তব্যে এই সম্মান প্রদানের জন্য ডাক বিভাগ ও সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলকে কৃতজ্ঞতা জানান এবং ভবিষ্যত প্রজন্মের কাছে এই ঐতিহ্য সংরক্ষণের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন।

অনুষ্ঠান শেষে বিশেষ ডাক-খাম ও স্মারক সিল আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে উন্মোচন করা হয়। উপস্থিত অতিথিদের হাতে স্মারক কপি প্রদান করা হয়। সমগ্র অনুষ্ঠানটি এক আন্তরিক ও গর্বের আবহে সম্পন্ন হয়।

এই বিশেষ ডাক-খাম প্রকাশনা অনুষ্ঠান চন্দননগরের শিক্ষা ও ঐতিহ্যকে নতুন করে আলোচনায় এনে এক স্মরণীয় অধ্যায় হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হয়ে থাকবে।
