Dr. Somnath Chatterjee has received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Burdwan University, West Bengal, in the year 1998 and 2001 respectively, and completed his Ph.D. from West Bengal University of Technology (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology) in the year 2012. Dr. Chatterjee has also received the URSI Young Scientist Award of the International Union of Radio Science in the year 2005. He has authored 16 (Sixteen) international peer-reviewed journal papers and two textbooks. He has attended more than 30 (thirty) conferences in India and abroad. At present, Dr. Chatterjee is leading the Kanailal Vidyamandir (French Section), Chandernagore as a Headmaster/Principal. For long, he has been continuing as the member of the managing committee of a school cluster comprising of elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools. He is also the District Co-ordinator of National Children's Science Congress.
